A journalist by profession, Monella Kaplan has worked in
various segments of the entertainment industry. Monella was born in Romania and
raised in Munich, Germany. After earning a Masters in Political Science and
Communications, she worked for various German media companies, including RTL
TELEVISION, TV MÜNCHEN, ABENDZEITUNG, the leading national newsmagazine FOCUS,
and TV-TODAY in Hamburg.
In 1996 Monella became Publicist for the German TV network
RTL2. In 1997 she became a Freelance Producer and moved to Los Angeles,
producing news and feature segments for a number of different German networks.
In 1999, Monella founded Northstar Films. Northstar currently has four projects
in development.
Since 2001 Monella has been a student in the Producer's
Program at UCLA and will graduate with a Master of Fine Arts in June 2003. BIRTH
OF THE VAMPIRE is Monella's directorial debut.
